Camp Packing Tips:
Pack like a pro:
SOCKS
-
Pack old ones. Don't get attached to the ones you send. (Feeling the need to buy brand new? Save them in the drawer for when your camper comes home.)
-
Socks always disappear
-
White socks turn grey fast
-
Pack more than you think (then pack another pair) especially for boys
-
Name. stamp (or sharpie) on the foot of the sock.
WATER BOTTLES
-
Cute bottles = usually lost or gross
-
Leave fancy ones at home
-
Avoid anything with straws
-
Most campers don’t clean bottles
-
Pro parent move: cheap bottles only
-
One per week (label them!)
-
Toss when needed
-
Restock on visiting day
FANS

-
First question: does your camp allow electric fans?
-
Buy the fan based on where your camper can actually put it
-
Battery fans often come screwed shut — open them at home
-
Remove the screws or tape the panel closed
-
Pro parent tip: toss a mini screwdriver in their duffel
-
always pack extra batteries and SHOW THEM HOW TO USE THEM

MUSIC PLAYERS ++
-
An old iPod Nano or basic MP3 player works great
-
Some families have had luck with the Campfire Player, now. knows as FyrFly (we haven’t tested it — do your research)
-
No internet capabilities or it will be taken away
-
Don’t forget headphones
-
Make sure headphones actually plug into the device (some newer ones don’t work with older players)
-
Pack chargers for everything
-
Teach your camper how to use and charge their devices before camp
-
Music lover? We love a small JBL speaker for blasting tunes in the bunk

How to Pack Liquids (Shampoo, soap, sunscreen etc.)
-
Use painter's tape to "seal" the opening or cap
-
Put all liquids into a ziplock bag before going into the trunk. (If they spill, it won't get all over the place)
-
If you purchase online, sometimes they will be delivered sealed. Keep the seal on and label around it.
Plastic Three Drawer storage
Some camps allow campers to pack additional storage. See options in the "Camp Essentials: Shopping tab" or

-
can pack directly into trunk or pay for additional shipping and ship separtely.
-
If shipping, save the cardboard shipping box you receive it, and ship it to camp in that box. Can provide extra protection.
-
tape the edges of the drawers before shipping to stop them from opening.
-
Many parents pre pack the drawers. Either works. Some kids like to unpack and organize themselves. Talk to your child
